About ASHI
 
In order to propagate Social Health Activities the Association through its District Branches, holds Seminars, Declamation, Lectures, Debates, etc., generally on the topics mentioned below: 

Empowerment of Women.
Evils of dowry.
Drug addiction.
Importance of Family Planning.
Need for Happy Family life.
Marital discord/broken homes.
Awareness about Aids and its prevention.
Immunization.
Rights of women.
Prevention of Female feticide etc.

On International Women's Day (March 8th, 2016) a Free Medical Camp was organized for Dental, Eyes, Skin and Medical ailments etc. and free medicines were also provided. The Medical Camp organized in association with Rotary Club Chandigarh Central at Nari Niketan Building, Sector 55, SAS Nagar (Mohali). International Women’s Day was also celebrated by all the district branches of ASHI, and a large number of women/girls participate in the functions.

We propose to run Training Centers for Computers, Beautician Course, Stitching / Embroidery, Call Centre, etc.

The District Branches of the Association take keen interest in cases of Marital discord, Behaviour problems, Dowry disputes. District Branches hold seminars for creating general awareness among women/girls against social evils and urge them to fight against social aggression etc.

Short Stay Homes: 
The ASHI Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh has been successful in getting three Short Stay Homes sanctioned from the Govt. of India for helping the destitute women/girls in the State as mentioned below:

  • Sanjeevni at Jalandhar,
  • Savera at Chandigarh, 
  • Sahara at Amritsar
At the Short Stay Homes for women in discord and disorganization, emotionally disturbed/unmarried mothers, women of weaker sections requiring shelter/protection etc., are provided accommodation for short stay in these Homes. Here they are provided free Board and Lodging, rehabilitation and medical treatment, protection and help to build future for them through academic, well equipped vocational training, so that they can become economically independent. They are provided facilities of games as well. The inmates are imparted training in various handicrafts such as making leather goods, purses, Dak Pads, Warrian Pappar, Surf etc. and after trained perfectly they are helped find a livelihood. The Association takes special interest in getting them married to suitable persons to enable them to lead honourable life. Grant-in-aid to run these Homes is given by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resources Development, New-Delhi.
COUNSELLING CENTRES 

At present, the Central Social Welfare Board, New-Delhi has sanctioned four Counseling Centres in the following Districts under the ASHI Programme: 
  • Jalandhar (2), One is Sanjeevni Home and the other in Police Line. 
  • Hoshiarpur; 
  • Faridkot. 
These Counseling Centres are doing useful work in settling marital disputes through persuasion/conciliation.

The Association for Social Health in India(Punjab State Branch), is implementing Welfare Programmes for upliftment of Rural Women and to create alround awareness among them so as to make them self-reliant and to enable them to participate in socio-economic programmes in a big way.
